Laurin v. The Hartford Provision Company

CASE NO. 6571 CRB-1-25-2 : COMPENSATION REVIEW BOARD CLAIM NO. 100170709 KENNETH LAURIN CLAIMANT-APPELLANT : WORKERS’ COMPENSATION COMMISSION v. : MARCH 6, 2025 THE HARTFORD PROVISION COMPANY

EMPLOYER and WAUSAU UNDERWRITERS INSURANCE COMPANY INSURER

RESPONDENTS-APPELLEES

REMAND ORDER

Claimant filed an appeal on February 28, 2025, from the February 11, 2025 Order

issued by the Administrative Law Judge acting for the First District following an

informal hearing held on February 11, 2025. It appears that no record was created upon

which the Board can reach a determination on the issue presented in this appeal. Due

process requires an evidentiary hearing where a record can be created. The

Compensation Review Board cannot properly review or consider this appeal under

General Statutes Section 31-301 (a).

This matter is therefore remanded to the Administrative Law Judge acting for the

First District for a formal hearing or other appropriate action.
