Helen Jensen, Appellant, v. City of Chicago, Appellee.

DAMAGES, § 405 — permanent arm injury, inadequacy of verdict. In action for personal injuries sustained by 61-year-old woman as result of fall caused by defective sidewalk, where defendant city offered no defense as to the accident nor to plaintiff's injuries, verdict for $350 was insufficient warranting a new trial, where plaintiff's arm was broken and suffered permanent limitation of motion, she was strapped in bed for 17 days, incapacitated for 66 days, the arm was permanently shortened, she endured pain and suffering while the arm was in a traction apparatus and subsequently in a sling, and medical expenses alone totaled $300.
