Arya D-10/28, Sector-VII, Rohini, Delhi-110085 Name of the Public Authority University of Delhi Background: Shri U.R. Arya of Delhi had filed an application with the PIO, University of Delhi on 19 April 2006 for getting complete information about the Teak wood works executed by various agencies in the University between 2002-2006. The PIO vide his letter dated 19 May 2006 replied to the Appellant that there was no specific categories of teak wood work executed by the various agencies.
2. Dissatisfied with the reply of the PIO, the Appellant filed a first appeal with the first Appellate Authority on 24 May 2006, who reiterated the reply given by the PIO. Thereafter, the Appellant filed a second appeal with the Central information Commission on 31 July 2006.
3. The case was fixed for hearing on 4 January 2007.
4. The bench of Dr. O.P. Kejariwal, Information Commissioner, heard the matter.

6. The Appellant, Shri U.R. Arya, was present in person. Decision:
7. The Commission heard both the sides. The Appellant had actually asked for information about the details including expenses on teak wood work carried out in the entire North Campus of the Delhi University between the years 2002- 2006. The Respondents explained that it was extremely difficult to isolate and identify the work carried out in teak and provide that information. The Campus is large and the fact that the order did not specify the work done in teak but rather mentioned wood work made it nearly impossible to identify the work done in teak and provide the information connected therewith. On the other hand, the Appellant continued to maintain that it was not difficult to compile this information and that it was possible to identify the work done in teak and supply information connected therewith.
8. The Commission in the interest of transparency authorises the Appellant to inspect the work orders for himself and get copies of the pages that he requires at the fee prescribed.
