Cal. Pub. Contract Code § 20162 : CALIFORNIA PUBLIC CONTRACT CODE — GENERAL PROVISIONS — CONTRACTING BY LOCAL AGENCIES — LOCAL AGENCY PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION ACT — CITIES — Project in excess of $5,000

When the expenditure required for a public project exceeds five thousand dollars ($5,000), it shall be contracted for and let to the lowest responsible bidder after notice.
