Short title and I. (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Muslim Waifs (Repeal) commencement Act, 2005. .
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on January 1, 1996. r STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
1' The Uttar Pradesh Muslim Waqfs Act, 1960 (LIP. Act. no. XVI 01 1960) has been enacted to n: provide for better governance, administration and supervision of certain classes of warp's in Uttar Pradesh. 1 Since the said Act has ceased to operate in the light of the provisions of kib-section •(3) of J m section 112 of the Waqf Act, 1995. (Act no. 43 of 1996) and has become' redundant with effect from January 01, 1996 (the date of commencement Of the said central Act of 1996), it has been decided to repeal . 4 ibth the said Act of 1960. • . • .
