THE WEST BENGAL LAND LAWS
(REPEALING) ACT, 2023.

An Act to repeal the Bengal Permanent Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Decennial Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue free Lands (Badshahi Grants) Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-officers Regulation, 1794, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1800, the Bengal Land-revenue Assessment Regulation, 1801, the Bengal Land-revenue Sales Regulation, 1812, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1819, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1820, the Bengal Revenue free Lands Regulation, 1825 and the Bengal Rent Recovery (Under-Tenures) Act, 1865.

The West Bengal Land Laws
(Repealing) Act, 2023.
Short title and
commencement.
(Sections 1— 3.)
WHEREAS it is expedient to repeal the Bengal Permanent Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Decennial Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands (Badshahi Grants) Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-officers Regulation, 1794, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1800, the Bengal Land-revenue Assessment Regulation, 1801, the Bengal Land-revenue Sales Regulation, 1812, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1819, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1820, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1825 and the Bengal Rent Recovery (Under-Tenures) Act, 1865;
It is hereby enacted in the Seventy-fourth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Land Laws (Repealing) Act, 2023.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. The Bengal Permanent Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Decennial Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands (Badshahi Grants) Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-officers Regulation, 1794, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1800, the Bengal Land-revenue Assessment Regulation, 1801, the Bengal Land-revenue Sales Regulation, 1812, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1819, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1820, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1825 and the Bengal Rent Recovery (Under-Tenures) Act, 1865 are hereby repealed.
3. Notwithstanding such repeal, all actions already undertaken or initiated under the Bengal Permanent Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Decennial Settlement Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands (Badshahi Grants) Regulation, 1793, the Bengal Revenue-officers Regulation, 1794, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1800, the Bengal Land-revenue Assessment Regulation, 1801, the Bengal Land-revenue Sales Regulation, 1812, the Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1819, the Repeal of Ben.

The West Bengal Land Laws
(Repealing) Act, 2023.
(Section 3.)
Bengal Patni Taluks Regulation, 1820, the Bengal Revenue-free Lands Regulation, 1825 and the Bengal Rent Recovery (Under-Tenures) Act, 1865, shall be deemed to have been validly undertaken or initiated and remaining process, if any, shall be deemed to have been taken or executed under the respective repealed Regulation or Act.
