No. 130-L.-13th February, 2023.—The following Act of the West Bengal Legislature, having been assented to by the Governor, is hereby published for general information:—

THE BENGAL RHINOCEROS PRESERVATION
(REPEALING) ACT, 2022.
[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 13th February, 2023.]
Short title and
commencement.
An Act to repeal the Bengal Rhinoceros Preservation Act, 1932. WHEREAS it is expedient to repeal the Bengal Rhinoceros Preservation Act, 1932; It is hereby enacted in the Seventy-third Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Bengal Rhinoceros Preservation (Repealing) Act,
2022.

Saving.
(Sections 2, 3.)
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. The Bengal Rhinoceros Preservation Act, 1932 is hereby repealed.
3. Notwithstanding such repeal, all actions undertaken or initiated under the Bengal Rhinoceros Preservation Act, 1932, shall be deemed to have been validly undertaken or initiated under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and remaining process, if any shall be executed under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
