-the Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Uttar
Pradesh Rajya Vishwavidyalaya (Sanshodhan)Adhiniyam, 1987 (Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam
-Sankhya 19 of 1987) as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the Governor
on July 31, 1987:

AN
ACT
further to 'amend the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973
IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Thirty-eighth Year of the Republic of India asi
follows
I. This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amendment)
Act, 1987.
2. In section 4 of the Uttar Pradesh State 'Universities Act, 1973; here-
inafter referred to as the principal Act,—
(a) in sub-section (1-A),—
.
0) in clause (b), the word "and" shall be omitted ;
(ii) after clause (c), the following clause shallbe inserted, namely:—
"(d) a University to be known as Purvanchal 'University
at Jaunpur ;"
n 'o-section (1-B), in clause (6), the words "up to December 31,
1981 or" shall be omitted and for the words "whichever be earlier," the
words "or such other earlier date as may be specified by the State
Government in this behalf" shall be substituted.
3. In section 38 of the principal Act, for sub-section (8), the following sub-
-section shall be substituted, namely
"(8) Notwithstanding anything in this section or in section 5, any
associated college situated within the area of any University to which
this section applies, may, subject to such directions, as may be issued by
the State Government in this behalf, be admitted to the privileges of
affiliation lo3r any University to which section 37 applies."
4. In Section 50 of the principal Act, after sub-section (1-A), the following
,sub-section shall be inserted, namely :—
"(1-B) Until the First Statutes of the Purvanchal University are made
under this section, the Statutes of the University of Gorakhpur, as in
force immediately before the establishment of thefl said 'University shall
apply to it subject to such adaptations and modifications as the State
Government may, by notification, provide."

Removal
difficulties
of 7. (1) The State Government may, for the purpose of removing any diffi-
culty in relation to the establishment of the Purvanchal University, by order
published in the Gazette, direct that the provisions of the principal Act shall'
during such period, as may be specified in the order, have effect subject, to such
adaptations, whether by way of modification, addition or omission as it may deem
to be necessary or expedient :
Provided that no such order shall be made after two years frau the date
of commencement of this Act.
Even, order made under sub-section (1) shall be laid before both Houses
of the State Legislature.
No order under sub-section (0 shall be called in question in any Court
on the ground that no difficulty, as is referred to in sub-section (1) existed or
was required to be removed.
