AN
ACT
further to amend the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973
IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Forty-third Year of the Republic of India as
follows :-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amend-
ment) Act,.1992.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on November 22, 1991.
2. In section 13 of the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, as
amended and re-enacted by the Uttar Pradesh Universities (Re-enactment and
Amendment) Act, 1974, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act: --
in sub-section (0, after the words "Where any matter" the words
"other than the appointment of teacher of the University". shall be inserted;
in sub-section (8), the words "or a teacher of the University" shall
be omitted.
3. In section 31 of the principal Act,—
in sub-section (I), words "The Selection Committee shall meet as
often as necessary" shall be inserted at the end ;
in sub-section (3), tyl'er clause (b) and the provisos thereto, the
following clause shall be inserted, namely :—
"(e) Any teacher of the University who was appointed as lecturer
on or before June 30, 1991 without reference to the Selection Com-
mittee by way of a short term arrangement in accordance with the
provisions for the time being in force for such appointment, may be
given substantive appointment by the Executive Council, if any sub-
stantive vacancy of the same cadre and grade in the same department
is available on •Noveniber 22, 1991 if such teacher —
is serving as such on November.22, 1991 continuously since
such initial .appointment by. way of short term arrangement ;
possessed on November 22, 1991 the qualifications requi-
red for regular appointment to the post under the provisions of
the relevant Statutes in force on the date of the initial appoint-
ment ;
has been found suitable for regular appointment by the
Executive Council.
A teacher appointed by way of short term arrangement as aforesaid who
does not get a substantive appointment under this clause shall cease to hold such
post on such date as the Executive Council may specify".
4. (1) The Uttar Pradesh State Universities ( Second Amendment )
Ordinance, 1991 is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under
the principal Act as amended by the Ordinance referred to in sub-section (1),
shall be deemed to have been done or taken undei the corresponding provisions
of the principal Act as amended by this Act, as if the provisions of this Act '‘ven)
in force at all material times.

further to amend the Uttal' Prades/I State Universities Act, 1973
‘MEN‘D ACT,
IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Forty-third Year of the Republic of India as
follows :—
. I. (1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amend-
ment) Act, 1992.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on November 22, 1991.
2. In section 13 of the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, as
amended and re-enacted by the Uttar Pradesh Universities (Re-enactment and
Amendment) Act, 1974, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act»
(a) in sub.section‘(6), rifle! the words “Where any matter” the words

(b) in sub—section (8), the words “or a. teacher of the University” shall
be omitted.
3. In section 31 of the principal Act,—
(a) in sub-section (1}, words “The Selection Couiinittw shall meet as

(b) in subsection (3), (after clause (1)) and the provisos thereto, the
followmg clause shall be inserted, namely :—
"(c) Any teacher of the University who was appointed as lecturer

provisions for the time being in force for such appointment, may be
given substantive appointment by the Executive Council, if any sub-

(i) is serving assuch on November 22, 1991 continuously since
such initial apporntmem by. way of short term arrangement ;
(ii) possessed on November 22, I991 the qualifications rcqui~
red for regular appotntment to the post under the provisions of
the relevant Statutes 111 force on the date of the initial appoint-
ment ;
(iii) has been found suitable for regular appointment by the
Executive Council.
