IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Sixty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as
follows :-
Short title
Amendment
of section 7 of
UP Act no. 22
of 1995
This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh State Council of Higher Education
(Amendment) Act, 2014.
In section 7 of the Uttar Pradesh State Council of Higher Education
(Amendment) Act, 1995, in sub-section (I) the proviso shall be omitted.

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
The Uttar Pradesh State Council of Higher Education Act, 1995 (U.P. Act no. 22 of 1995) has
been enacted to provide for the establishment of a State Council of Higher Education in the State of Uttar
Pradesh section 7 of the said Act deals with the terms and conditions of service of the Chairman and the
nominated members of the said Council. The proviso to sub-section (1) of the said section provides that if a
person has attained the age of 65 years, he shall not be eligible for appointment or re-appointment as the
Chairman of the Council. With a view to obtaining the services of a capable eminent academician for a
long time it has been decided to amend the said Act to omit the said proviso.
The Uttar Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (Amendment) Bill. 2014 is introduced
accordingly.
