in section .2 of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature (Prevention of

Disqualification) Act,, 1971, hereinafter referred .tins the principal Act, clauses (b) and (c) shall be omitted. •

In section.3 of the principal Act, in clause (x) after item (79) the following

'item shall be inserted,. namely

"(80) Uttar Pradesh State Handloom Development Board."

.STATEMENT OF OBJECT&AND REASONS

Clause (x) of section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh State. Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification)

. . Act, 1971 (U.P. Act no. 15 of 1971) declares that the holder of the office of the Chairman or

Vice-Chairman or Member (whether called Director or by any other name) of eaCh of the bodies

mentioned therein shall not be disqualified for being chosen as, or for being a member of the State

Legislature. It has been decided to amend the said Act to include Uttar Pradesh State Handloom

Developrfient Board in the said clause, it has also been decided to omit clauses (b) and (c) of section 2 Of

the said Act as they had become redundant with effect from the date' Of commencement of the Uttar

Prade.sh.State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) (Amendment) Act, 2006 (U.P. Act no. 10 of

2006).

The Uttar. Pradesh State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) (Second Amendment)

Bill, 2006 is introduced accordingly. •
