THE WILDLIFE (PROTECTION) (ASSAM AMENDMENT) ACT, 2009

further to amend the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, m its application to the tate of Assam.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, herei after referred to as the Principal Act, i :ts application to the csta e of Assam;

It is hereby enacted in the Sixtieth Year of the Republic 0·- G. follows:-

"Offences to be cognizable: non bailabale and triable by the Court of Sessions
(3) .

(a) in between the words "hunting in" and" a sanctuary"

(b) for thc words "three .years" , "seven years" and "ten thousand", the words "seven years", "ten years" and "fifty thousand" respectively shall be substituted.
(ii) in the second proviso, for the words "three years",
"seven years" and "twenty five thousand", the words "ten years", "life imprisonment" and "seventy five thousand respectively, shall be sub tituted.
3. In the principal Act, after section 51 A, the following new section 51 B shall be inserted, namely :-
51 B (1) Every offe ce punishable under this Act _ be congnizab e ar d non- ailable within the meaning the Code of C~ Pr cecure.1973
