Short title and Commencement.

AN ACT FURTHER TO AMEND THE ANDHRA PRADESH

COMPULSORY REGISTRATION OF MARRIAGES ACT, 2002

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Sixty-ninth year of the Republic of India as follows,-

1. (1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh Compulsory Registration of Marriages (Amendment) Act, 2018.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect on and from the 8thJune, 2018.

2. In the Andhra Pradesh Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2002, (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act) in section 6, in sub-section (1), for the words 'Local Authority', the words, "Government or Local Authority"

shall be substituted.

3. In the Principal Act, in section 7, in sub-section (1) after the words,

"shall be registered" the words, "online or otherwise, as the case may be"

shall be inserted.

The following Act of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature received the assent of the Governor on the 19thOctober, 2018 and the said assent is hereby first published on the 25thOctober, 2018 in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette for general information :-

4. In the Principal Act, in section 12, in sub-section (1) after the words,

"Marriage Certificate" the words, "or digitally signed Marriage Certificate, as the case may be", shall be inserted.

5. In the Principal Act, in section 21, in sub-section (2) after clause (d), the following clause shall be added, namely,-

"(e) the automated marriage registration process."

6. The Andhra Pradesh Compulsory Registration of Marriages (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 is hereby repealed. Printed by the Commissioner of Printing, at A.P. Legislative Assembly Printing Press, Amaravati.
