BE it enacted by the Legislature of Manipur in the Forty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :— 1. Short title and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Manipur Higher Secondary Education (Amendment) Act, 1995, (2) It shall come intoforce onsuch date as the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint. 2. Amendment of section 5.—Ia clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 5 of the Manipur'Higher Secondary Education Act, 1992 (hereinafter referred to as the Act), for items (iv), (v), (vii) and (x), the following shall be substituted, namely,— “(iv) One Principal from amongst the Girls’ Colleges and one Principal from amongst the Girls’ Higher Secondary Schools; (v) One Principal from amongst the Aided Colleges and one Principal from amongst the Aided Higher Secondary Schools; (vii) One Lecturer representative from the Higher Secondary Schools; s (x) One distinguished Educationist who is not a Government employee.”, 3. Amendment of section 12.—For sub-section (2) and (3) of section 12 of the Act, the following shall be substituted, namely,— “2) The Government shall appoint on deputation an Officer who 18 working as the Director of Education (U) or the Director of Education (9) or as a Principal of a Govercment College with a minimum 15 years’ service as Reader/Selection Grade Lecturer as the Chairman of the Council for the term not exceeding three years which may be shortened or extended by onme year at a time subject to the condition that the fotal length of deputation shall not exceed five years: Provided that he or she will not confinue beyond the date of his or her superannuation.
the 2 (3) The Gevernment shall appoint on deputation an Officer of the Education Department, who has worked as a Reader/Selection Grade Lectarer in = Government Ccllege or a Principal of a Government Higher Secondary School with a minimum of five vears’ experience as a Principal, as the Secretary to the Council for a term not exceeding three years which may be extended or shoriened by one year at a time subject to the condition that the total leagth of deputation shall not exceed five years: Provided that he or she will not continue beyond the date of his or her superannuation.”, 4. Amendment of section 14.—After sub-section (5) of section 14 of the Act, following sub-section (6) shall be inserted, namely,— ' “Subject to the provisicn of tbis Act the Governmemt may issue such erder as deemed necessary for the smooth functioning of the Council.”. 5. Repeal and saving.— (1) The Manipur Higher Secondary Education (Ameadment) Ordinance, 1966 (Manipur Ordinance INo. 1 of 1996) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Ordinance shall be deemed (0 have been done or taken under this Act,
