It is hereby enacted in the Twentieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Short title, I. - (i: This Act may be called the Payment of cXomtent aeiad Wages (Assam Amendment) Act, 1969. c menc •

(S) I~ shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
Amen~mu1t 2. In s~ction 6 of the principal Act, the following ~f;:~:.1;y. 11 ~ proviso and the Explanation shall be added, HIZCi. namely :-
"Provided th11t notwithstanding; anything con- tained in the Payment cf Bonus Act, 1965, one-third of the amount bf any bonus payable to an employed person in a particular year in excess of rupees forty may be paid or mvested into the National Defence t.:ertificates or National Savings Certificates (First Issue), if the said employed person records his assent by furnishing a1no-objection certificate, in the manner to be prescribed, to hi5 employer.
Explanation.-Fcr the purposes of this section, the expression (1 J "Wages" shall include any bonus of the description given in sub-clause (1) of clause (vi) ef section 2 ; and (2) "bonus'' means bonus payable to an employed person under the terms of employment or under an award or settlement or order of a Court, and also includes any bonus of the description
