WHEREAS, it is expedient to amend the trndian Penal Code, I86S {Ce*hal Aet No. 45 ef 186CI) and the ecde of Criminal Frocedure, I g?3 {Ceatral Aet No.Z of i Q?4}, in its application to thr state of Tripura, for the prlrpases hereafter appear; BE it er:asted by the Tripura Lrgislative Assembly in the sixty-ninth year of the Republic of India" as follows:

After the Sectian 38? of *he trxdian Penal Cocle, the follovring new sections will be insertcd:-

*3S24 Sn*tchingl Whoev*r cornmits the{t st*althily from a person cr through assaalt or by usir:g *rirninal f*ree and thereby cailses h:;r1 or endangers the life of that person .^is said ts commit the ofYence qf 'snatching'.

3828. Whoever commits 'snatching' shal} be punished q,i& imprisonment for a term which shatrl nst be Iess than severr years bat may extend to a term of ten ycars cr with fine or with both.

382C" Yehietr.e lifting: Whsever eommits theft of a 'vehicle' either frorn oFen or close arena, is said to cn*mit the offbnee of 'vehi*le lifting'.

N{tg: - Tke term 've-hicle' sh*ll hale the same meaning as defured in sub-sectioe 28 of $sctian 2 sf Motar Vehie les Acr, 1988;

382n" Whoever commits the offence of 'vehicle lifting' shall be punished with imprisonrrer:t fbr a term which shall not be less thaa seve* years but may extend to a terur of ten years or with fine or rrith botir."
