Iris HEREBY enacted in the Thirtieth Year of the Republic of. India as
follows :--
I. This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh .Sugarcane' (Regulation of
Supply and Purchase) (Amendment) Act, 1979.
2. In section 5 of the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Regulation of Supply had. • Purchase) Act, 1953,—
(1) in sub-section (3)—L .
(a) for clause (ii), the' following clauXe shall be substituted, namely:—
"(ii) hire representatives of the Cane Growers Co-Operative-.
. .
Societies functioning in the reserved arca, to be elected by the
members of the Committees of Management of such Societies•
from amongst the Members of such societies :
Provided that; subject to availability, two of such representa-
tives shall be from the weaker sections ;
Explanal ion—For the purpoes Of ihis clause. the expression.
'weaker sections' means the persons belonging to the Scheduled,

'person, not being a Government servant, " the words "from among the
five representatives referred to in clause (ii) of sub-section (3) a person"
'shall be substituted ;
in sub-section (4), the second proviso shall be omitted.
