IT IS HEREBY enacted in the Thirty-second Year -of-111"-r- Re- Miblic—of India

This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature (Members'
Emoluments and and Pension) (Amendment) Act, 1981.
In section 4 of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature (Members' Emolu-
ments and Pension) Act, 1980, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, for
the words "five hundred rupees", the words "one thousand rupees" shall be
Jubstitute.d.
In section 13 of the principal Act, after sub-section (3), the following
p zsub-section shall be inserted, namely:—
"(4) Every person who is entitled to a pension under Chapter •VIII
shall also be entitled to a free non-transferable bus-pass and the provi-
sions of sub-section (1) shall, mutatis mutandis, apply to every such
person as they apply to a member."
In section 15 of the principal Act, for the words "thirty rupees", the
,words "forty rupees" shall be substituted.
Afters- section 21 of the principal Act, the following section shall
-be- inserted, namely:—
"21-A.(1) The Leader of Opposition shall, throughout the term of his
office, be provided with a suitable conveyance purchased
and maintained at public expense in accordance with
the rules made in that behalf. •
(2) The Leaders of Opposition shall be entitled to such other facili-
ties as may be prescribed by rules made in this behalf."
The existing section 24 of the principal Act shall be renumbered as
-sub-section (1) thereof, and after sub-section (I) as so re-numbered, the
following sub-section shall be inserted, namely
“(2) Every person who has, for the first time, become entitled to a
pension with effect from January I, 1981 by virtue of—
the Explanation to sub-section (1), or
his membership of the Assembly or Council as defined in
clause (a) of section 23,
shall also be entitled to a pension, at the rate specified in the said
sub-section (1) for the period commencing from January 1, 1977 and
ending on December 31, 1980."
