Short title, 1. (1) T his Ac t ma y be call ed the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation

(3) I t shall com e into force a t once. Amendment of 2. In the pr incip al Regulat ion , in sec tion 28, aft er the ex ist ing p rovis o, the section 28. foll owing new proviso shal l be inse rted , n amely
"Provi ded fu rth er tha t n otw ithstanding a nything contained in any l aw fo r the tim e b ein g in force or in any lease, gran t, set tlem ent , tran sfer , allo tme nt, acq uis itio n, ag ree me nt or con tract, the Sta te Go vernm ent ma y assess rev enue on all or any land held by an y individual , o rga nisation, c om pan y, ass ociat ion , soc iety, aut hority , publi c undertakin g or any body wh eth er co rpo rat e or n ot, wh eth er Go vernm ent or semi Go vernm ent and wh eth er under the Ce ntr al or State Go vernm ent by way o f transfer, allotm ent , acquisi tion a nd used b y such ind ivid ual , o rganisatio n, com pan y, associatio n, soc iety , aut hority , undertakin g or b ody for trade, comm erc e, ind ustrie s or any o ther p urp ose s."
Insertion of 3. In the princ ipa l Regul atio n, aft er sec tion 34, the fol low ing n ew sec tion
section 34A. 34 A shall be inser ted, nam ely
"Revision of rates of
revenue by the State Government.
34A. No tw ith sta nd ing anyth ing co ntain ed in the As sam La nd and Re venue Regulat ion , 1886 and the ru les fr amed the reu nder o r in any other la w f or the t ime b ein g in for ce the Sta te Go vernm ent may, on its own mo tion o r oth erw ise , for rea son s to be rec ord ed in writin g, at any t ime , ord er rev isio n o f the rate s o f revenue fo r a local area or c lass o f esta tes, bo th f or town and areas oth er than town la nd as per rules to be prescribed ."
