THE ASSAM LAND AND REVENUE
REGULATION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1990
AN
ACT
Further to amend the Assam Land and Revenue
Regulation, 1886. # -»•
Whereas it is necessary to impose restriction on transfer of land in the Tr ibal be lts or blocks in Assam for protection of the interests of the pro- tected classes.
Preamble And w hereas it is expedient furth er to amend the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation, 1886, (hereafter referred to as the principal Ac t);
It is hereby enacted in the Forty-first year of
the Republic of India as follows :—
Short tit le, extent and commence* a n d ment.
1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Land Revenue Regulation (Amendment) Act, 1990.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the prin - cipal Act.
__ (3) It shall come into force at once.
Amendment 2. In the principal Act. after section 164 A, ^Re" the following section shall be inserted, namely
guiadon—i "164 B. Penalty for transfer.------- -----------
of 1886.
If anv trans fer of land is effected in con- travent ion of the provisions of this Chapter, both the trans feror and the transferee shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both".
