SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES (AMENDMENT)

further to amend the Assam Legislative Assembly Members' Salaries and Allowances Act, 1958.

I

Preamble. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Legislative Assembly Members' Salaries and

1 Allowances Act, 1958, hereinafter called the prin· cipal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Thirtieth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

Short title 1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam ~e~ce~~~: Legislative Assembly Members' Salaries and Allowan- ces (Amendment) Act, 1979.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of April, 1978.

2. In Section 3 of the principal Act, for the words "three hundred and fifty rupees per mensem'', the words ''six hundred rupees per mensom" shall be substituted.

3. In .Section 4 of the principal Act,- { i) in sub-section (3), for the words "two hun- dred rupees per mensem", the words "four hundred rupees per mensem"; shaJl bi; substi- tuted;

(ii) the full-stop after existing sub-section (3) shall be substituted by a '' : " and thereafter the following shall be added as a proviso thereto, namely :-

"Ptovided \that a Member may, if he so desires, forego either in full or in part his fixed travelling allowance for any period and in the manner prescribed by rules made under this Act".
