TH E ASSA M CR IM IN AL LAW AM EN D
ME NT ACT, 1936.
Preamble. Whereas it is exp edie nt to amend the Assam m of i934 Criminal Law Am endmen t Act, 1934.
And whereas the previous sanctio n of the
Governo r General has been obtained under sub
section (3) of section 80A of the Government of
India Act to the passing of this Act ;
It is hereby enacted as follows :—
1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam
Crimin al Law A mendm ent Act, 1936 ;
(2) It extends to the whole of Assam ;

the following sentence shall be substitu ted,
nam ely :—
“ Th e rem aining provisions of this Act , in
whole or in pa rt, shall come into force in such
areas and on such date s as the Local Govern
ment may, by notification in the Assam Gazette,
specify and for this purpose different dates may
be specified for different provisions of this Act and
for diffe rent areas
