THE ASSAM ELECTRICITY DUTY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1984

An Act further to amend the Assam Electricity Duty Act, 1964.

Preamble . Whereas it is expedie nt fu rth er to amend the ' Assam Electr icit y Duty Act, 1964, herei nafte r Assam Act ref err ed to as the prin cipal Act, in the ma nne r XXX o he rei na fte r ap pe ar ing;

It is "hereby enacted in the Th irty-f ifth Year of the Republic of Ind ia as fol low s:—

Short title j (i) This Act may be called the Assam ^ g ° " men

'El ect ric ity Du ty (Amendment ) Act, 1984.

(2) It shal l come,into force from 1st October,

1984.

I2. In the prin cipal Act, in Section 3, fo r sub- Amendment of Assam3

s ec ti o n (1), the following sha ll be sub stit uted, Act x x x of nam ely :

1964.

"(1) The re sha ll be levied and paid to the Sta te Governmen t a duty, to be called the 'ele ctr icit y du ty', at the ra te of five paise per un it of energy,—

(a) supp lied by the Board to a consumer within the Sta te or to any consumer outr ide the State ; or ,

, (b) supp lied to a consumer by a licensee gener atin g ene rgy or pro cur ing energy in bulk from the Board; or

(c) gen era ted by a person or a company or a firm or any organis ation for » own use or consumpt ion."
