Prea mble. Whereas it is expedie nt further to amend the Assam Co-op era tive L and Mortgage Bank Act, 1960, Assam Act here inaf ter calle d the prin cipal Act, in the manner1 of 1961
' here inaf ter app ear ing ; It is hereby enac ted in the Twe nty-sev enth Year of the Rep ubl ic of In dia as fol low s: — Short tit le , 1. (1 ) This Act may be called the Assam ex te nt and Co-operative Lan d Mortgage Bank ( Amendment ) co mm en ce- A c t 197 6.mea t.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the p rinc ipal Act.
(3) It shall come into force at once. Su bs titut ion 2. For clauses (a) , (b) and (c) of Section 2 of the 9f

(a) " B oar d" means the Board of Directo rs of
the Central Mortgage Bank and includes Managing Body of a registered Society or by wha tever nam e such body is called but does not include the Administ rative Council of the Society.

(b) " Central Mortga ge Bank" means the Assam Co-operativ e Central Lan d Mortgage Bank Ltd. and includes any other registered Co-operativ e Society notif ied by the Sta te Governmen t in this behalf.
(c) " Mortgage Bank" means a Co-operativ e Lan d Mortgage Bank registered under the Assam Co-operativ e Societies Act, 1949 and includes any other registered Co-operat ive Societies notified by the Sta te Government in this behal f an d adm itte d as a mem ber of the Central Mor tgage Bank.
