THE TELANGANA MEMBERS OF POLICE FORCE

(REGULATION OF TRANSFERS) ACT, 1985.¹

ACT No. 9 OF 1985.

1. (1) This Act may be called the²Telangana Members of Police Force (Regulation of Transfers) Act, 1985.

(2) It shall apply to persons appointed to police force, whether appointed before or after the commencement of this Act.

(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 11th October, 1984.

2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-

(a) 'Government' means the State Government of

(b) 'police force' means the police force constituted under the³Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 F., the Andhra Pradesh (Andhra Area) District Police Act, 1859 and the

3 Telangana District Police Act, 1329F. or any other law relating to police force;

1. The Andhra Pradesh Members of Police Force (Regulation of Transfers) Act, 1985 received the assent of the Governor on the 7th April, 1985. The said Act in force in the combined State, as on 02.06.2014, has been adapted to the State of Telangana, under section

1 01 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 201 4 (Central Act 6 of 2014) vide. the Telangana Adaptation of Laws Order, 2016 issued in G.O.Ms.No.45, Law (F) Department, dated 01.06.2016.

3. (1) Notwithstanding anything in any law for the time being in force, a member of the police force shall be liable to service in any part of the State of⁴Telangana.

(2) The Government may make rules for the regulation of transfer of members of police force from one part of the State to another part within the State of⁴Telangana by such authority as may be prescribed.

4 . (1) The Government may, by notification in the

4 Telangana Gazette, make rules to carryout the purposes of this Act. (2) Every rule made under this Act shall, immediately after it is made, be laid before each House of the State Legislature if it is in session and if it is not in session in the session immediately following, for a total period of fourteen days which may be comprised in one session or in two successive sessions, and if, before the expiration of the session in which it is so laid or the session immediately following both Houses agree in making any modification in the rule or in the annulment of the rule, the rule shall from the date on which the modification or annulment is notified in the⁴Telangana Gazette, have effect only in such modified form or shall stand annuled, as the case may be; so however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that rule. 5. The Andhra Pradesh Members of Police Force (Regulation of Transfers) Ordinance, 1984, is hereby repealed. * * *
