THE GAUHATI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
(AMENDMENT) ACT, 1978
An Act
further to amend the Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act,
1969.
Preamble.
W hereas it is expedient to amend the G auhati M unicipal Corporation Act, 1969 hereinafter called the principal Act, in the m anner here inafter appearing ; It is hereby enacted in the Tw enty- n in th Year of the Republic of India, as fo llow s:—
sh o rt title, 1. (1) This Act m ay be called the commencê G auhati Municipal Corporation (Amend- m ent. ment) Act, 1978.
(2) It shall have like ex ten t as the principal Act.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the -23rd day of August, 1978.
Amendment 2. In the second proviso to sub- of of e Ass°am 425 section (1) of Section 425 of the principal Act i of 1973.Act, the word " th ree" appearing between the words "of" and "years" in the last
line shall be substitu ted by the word
"four".
Repeal and 3. (1) The G auhati M unicipal Cor-
" aVing ' poratipn (Amendment) Ordinance, 1978 (Assam Ordinance No. I of 1978) is here- by repealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal any order passed, notification issued, anything done or any action taken under the principal. Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been passed, issued, done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act.
