further to am end the A ssam M unicipal Act, 1956

Preamble Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Assam Ac Municipal Act, 1956, hereinafter referred to as t h e X V o ^ 1957 principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing ;

It is hereby enacted in the Thirteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows ;—

Short title, 1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Municipal extent and (Second Amendment) Act, 1962. commence-

(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act,

(3) i t shall come into force at once. Amendment 2. In section 117 of the principal Act— of Section r r

Act XV of (1) a ft e r sub-section (1) the following shall be inser- 1957. ted as sub-section (2) and the existing sub-sections (2)

and (3) shall be renumbered as sub-sections (3) and (4) respectively, namely :—

“ (2) The Board may, with the approval of the State Government, determine the maximum number of carts and carriages which may be licensed under sub­ section (1).”,

(2) for the words “ Such order” at the beginning of sub-section (3) as so renumbered under sub-section (1) of this Act the words “ T; j order under sub-section (I)” shall be substituted.

Amendment of Section I48 of A ssam

3. In section 148 of the principal Act, at the end of sub-section (5), the full-stop shall be deleted and
