THE BIHAR CONTINGENCY FUND (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2009
AN
ACT
TO AMEND THE BIHAR CONTINGENCY FUND ACT, 1950 (BIHAR ACT 19 OF 1950)
WHEREAS, the State is in grip of irregular Monsoon and has affected agricultural activities adversely due to fall in ground water level scarcity of drinking water is likely and there is every possibility of flood in some areas of the State.
AND, WHEREAS, relief and rehabilitation measures may have to be undertaken on an emergent and massive scale;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the sixtieth year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and commencement.—(1)This Act may by called the Bihar Contingency Fund (Amendment) Act, 2009
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment of section 4 of Bihar Act 19 of 1950.- For the proviso to section 4 of the Bihar Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Bihar Act 19 of 1950) shall be substituted, as follows :-
"Provided that during the period beginning on the date of commencement of the Bihar Contingency Fund (Amendment) Act, 2009 and ending on 31st day of March 2010 this section shall have effect subject to the modification that for the words 'three hundred and fifty crores' shall be substituted by the words 'One thousand five hundred crores'.
