ASSAM ACT NO. VII OF 2008 (Received the assent of the Governor on 3rd April, 2008) THE DEORI AUTONOMOUS COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2008 AN ACT further to amend the Deori Autonomous Council Act.2005. Preamble Whereas it is expedient further to amend Assam Act the Deori Autonomous Council XXV of 2005 Act, 2005, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, in the manner hereinafier appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-ninth year of the Republic of India as follows:- Short title, 1. (1) This Act may be called the Deori Autonomous extent and Council (Amendment) Act, 2008. commencement (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once.

In the principal Act, in section 2, after clause (a), the section 2 following new clause (aa) shall be inserted, namely:- “(aa) “Authority” means the Authority as may be notified under this clause by the Government for carrying out the duties and functions assigned to it under this Act.” Amendment of 3. Inthe principal Act, in section 50 , i section 50 sub-section (4}, for the word “Government” , the word “ Authority” shall be substituted, Substitution of 4. In the principal Act, for the existing section 52, the section 52 following shall be substituted, namely:- “52. Election of members for the purpose of constituting the Genera! Council and the Village Council shall be held by the Authority in consultation with the Government.” Amendment of 5. In the principal Act, in section 57, for the section 57 word“Commission”, the word “Authority” shali be substituted. MOHD. A.
