Preamble
(As passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature)
An Act further to amend the Uttar Pradesh State Universities Act, 1973, the Intermediate Education Act, 1921 and the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Act, 1972
It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Section 1. Short title and commencement
CHAPTER 1 - PRELIMINARY
1. Short title and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Education Laws Amendment Act, 1978.
(2) This section shall come into force at once, Sections 2 and 4 of Chapter II shall be deemed to have come into force on December 1, 1977, the remaining provisions of Chapter II shall be deemed to have come into force on November 25, 1977 and the provisions of Chapter III shall be deemed to have come into force on January 21, 1978.

Section 27. Repeal and savings
CHAPTER 5 - MISCELLANEOUS
27. Repeal and savings.-(1) The Uttar Pradesh State Universities (Amendment) Ordinance, 1977 (U.P. Ordinance No. 17 of 1977), the Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Education (Amendment) Ordinance, 1978 (U.P. Ordinance No. 4 of 1971) and Chapter V of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Local Self Government Laws (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 1977 (U.P. Ordinance No. 18 of 1977) are hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under any of the principal Acts mentioned in Chapters II and III, as amended by the Ordinances referred to in sub-section (1), shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the respective principal Act, as amended by this Act, as if the provisions of this Act were in force at all material times.
