Police (East Punjab Amendment) Act, 1948*

An Act to amend the Police Act, 1861.

It is hereby enacted as follows:-

Section 1. Short title and commencement

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Police (East Punjab Amendment) Act, 1948.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the commencement of the Police Act, 1861 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act).

Section 2. Amendment of section 7, Act V of 1861

2. Amendment of section 7, Act V of 1861.- In section 7 of the said Act-

(a) after the words "dismiss, suspend or reduce", the words "either in rank or within a time scale" shall be inserted; and

(b) after the existing clause (d), the following clause shall be added, namely,-

"(e) stoppage of increments."
