BE it enacted by the Legisla ture ' 'of Manipur in the Twenty—Seventh Year of the Rep ublic of India as follows :-—- l. (1) This Act may be called the Manipur Land ' . _ '

2. In this Act, "Prinbipal Act" m eans the M. L. R.' &

5. In the proviso to sub— section (i)uof section 136; !)
of the Principal Act, fo r the item (a). (u), the followmg
shall be substituted, na mely,—
"(a) (ii) a banking com pany ;

Explanation—'a banking company' means—
(1) a banking company as defined in the Banking Regulation Act, 1949;
(2) the State Bank of India constituted under the State Bank of India Act, 1955;
(3) a Subsidiary Bank, as defined in the State Bank of India (Subsidiary) Act, 1959;
(4) a corresponding new Bank constituted underthe Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertaking) Act, 1970 ;
(5) any banking institution notified by the CentralGovernment under Section 51 of the BankingRegulation Act, 1949; (.6) the Agricuhural Refinance and Development
Corporation constituted under the Agricul-
tural Refinance Corporation Act, 1963;
(7) the Regional Rural Banks, as defined in sec-tion 2(f) of the Regional Rural Banks Ordi- nance, 1975; and
(8) any other financial institutions notified by the Central Government in the Ofiicial Gazetteas a bank for. the purpose of this Act".
6, In" section 142(1) of the Principal Act for the words"thirty days" occuring in the second time, the words "fifteendays" shall be substituted.
7. In section147 of the Principal Act, for the fulfil"stop at the end, a colon shall besubstituted and thereafterthe following proviso shall be inserted, namely,—
