The Chanakya National Law University (Amendment) Act, 2012
AN
ACT
To amend The Chanakya National Law University Act,2006 (Bihar Act 24,2006)
Preamble A- It is necessary to amend certain existing provisions of The Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 in order to take advantage of experienced persons in the field of law and to further strengthen and streamline the administration of the university. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Bihar in the sixty third year of the Republic of India, as follows :-

1. Short title, Extent and commencement .- (1) This Act may be called the The Chanakya National Law University (Amendment) Act, 2012.
(2) It shall extend to the whole of the State of Bihar.
(3) It shall come into force from the date of publication of notification in the official Gazzette.
2. Amendment in Section- 19 of the Bihar Act 24, 2006. - Clause (IV) of sub-section (1) of Section 19 of the said Act 2006 shall be substituted by the following:-
"(IV) The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for a term of 5 (five) years from the date on which he holds his/her office, or till he/she attains the age of 75 (seventy five) years, whichever is earlier, and he/she shall be eligible for re-appointment for further term till he/she attains the age of 75(seventy five) years."
