An Act farther to amend the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the state of Andhra Pradesh in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
According to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward classes Act, 1993, every Member of the Commission shall hold office for a term of three years from the date he assumes office.
Occasions may arise when it becomes necessary for Government to extend the term of the Members for some more time in public interest. Since section 4 of the said Act does not provide for extension of the term, it is decided to amend the said sub-section (1) of section 4 enabling the Government to extend the term of three years of the Member of the Commission for a period not exceeding six months at a time.
The Bill seeks to give effect to the above decision.
Section 1. Short title
1. Short title.- This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward Classes (Amendment) Act, 2000.
Section 2. Amendment of section 4
2. Amendment of section 4.- In the Andhra Pradesh Commission for Backward classes Act, 1993, (A.P. Act 20 of 1993) in section 4, to sub-section (1), the following proviso shall be added, namely:-
"Provided that the Government, may by notification, and for reasons specified therein extend the term of office of the member for a period not exceeding six months at a time.".
