JUDGMENT
The above writ petition is filed with following prayers :
"i. Issue a writ of mandamus or any other writ, directions or order directing the 1strespondent to approve the M.Phil Degree in Commerce acquired by the petitioner from the Periyar University through distance education mode, evident by Exhibit P3 certificate as equivalent to the M.Phil Degree awarded by other universities and educational institutions.
ii. Declare that the petitioner is entitled to have his M.Phil Degree in Commerce obtained through distance education mode from the Periyar University as equivalent to M.Phil Degree awarded by other universities and institutions and is valid for seeking further higher studies and employment." [sic]
2. When this writ petition came up for consideration, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the Cochin University of Science and Technology submitted that as per certificate

dated 07.1.2024, the Registrar certified that the Degree of Masters of Philosophy in Commerce awarded to Sri. Firoz Khan M.C. by Periyar University, Tamil Nadu through distance mode has been recognized by Cochin University of Science and Technology on the basis of the orders of the Honourable Chairman, Kerala State Human Rights Commission on HRMP No. 2158/11/3/22 dated 16.05.2023. In the light of the above certificate, I think the prayers in this writ petition are infructuous.
Therefore, recording the above, this writ petition is closed.
