THE GUWAHATI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION

(AMENDMENT) NO. 1 ACT, 1995

ACT

further te amend the Guwahati Municipal! Assam Act I Corporation Act, 1969.; of 1973

Preamble. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Guwahati Municipal Corporation

Act, 1969, hereinafter referred to as the principal A ct;

It is hereby enacted in the Forty-

sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

fxtent1aid I- (D This Act, may be called the commence- Guwahati Municipal Corporation (Amend- ment) Act, 1995.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act.

(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 26th day of October,

1 993. Amendment 2. In the principal Act, in Section 425; of Section in sub~section (1), in the first paragraph, Â ti°̂ n S 97yfor the words, "to be dissolved for a period not exceeding six months'', the following shall be substituted, namely : — "to be superseded for a period not exceeding twelve years and six months, provided that after the first constitution of the Corporation, the State Government may dissolve the Corporation during the period of tenure and such period of disso- lution shall not exceed six months "

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, any- thing done or any action taken under the Ordinance so repealed shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corres- ponding provisions of this Act as if this Act had commenced on the 26th day of October, 1994.
