This Act may be called 9[the Maharashtra Contingency Fund Act].

There shall be established a Contingency Fund in the nature of an imprest entitled the 10[Contingency Fund of the State of Maharashtra], into which shall be paid from and out of the Consolidated Fund of the 11[State of Maharashtra] 12[a sum of forty crores of rupees].

The Contingency Fund of the State shall be held on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the 13[Government of Maharashtra] in the Finance Department, and no advances shall be made out of such Fund except for the purposes of meeting unforeseen expenditure pending authorisation of such expenditure by the State Legislature under appropriations made by law.

For the purposes of carrying out the objects of this Act, the State Government may make rules regulating fill matters connected with or ancillary to the custody of, the payment of motleys into, and withdrawals of moneys from, the Contingency Fund of the State.

The Bombay Contingency Fund Act, 1950 (Bom. XLI of 1950), and any law corresponding to the provisions of this Act in force immediately before the 1st day of November 1956 in any territory which after that date forms part of the new 14State of Bombay shall stand repealed.

3. Maharashtra Ordinance No. VTTI of 1975 was repealed by Mah. 58 of 1975, s. 3.

4. This indicates the date of commencement of Act.

5. For the words 44 a sum of twelve crores or rupees the words a sum of fifty crores of rupees were substituted by Maharashtra Ordinance No. IV of 1976. This Ordinance was repealed by Mah. 30 of 1976, s. 3. This Act was in force upto and inclusive of 11th August 1976 and then expired [vide Mah. 30 of 1976, s. 1(5)] and hence amendments are not incorporated.

6. Maharashtra Ordinance No. 1 of 1977 was repealed by Mah. 16 of 1977, s. 3.

7. For the words a sum of forty crores of rupees the words a sum of fifty-five crores of rupees were substituted by Maharashtra Ordinance No. X of 1979. This Ordinance was repealed by Mah. 4 of 1980, section 3. This Act was in force upto and inclusive of the 31st March 1980 and then expired (vide Mah. 4 of 1980, section 1(3)] and hence amendments are not incorporated.

8. These words were substituted for the words State of Bombay by the Maharashtra Adaptation of Laws (State and Concurrent Subjects) Order, 1960.
