Taxation (on Goods carried by Roads or Inland XIII of Water-Ways) Act, 1954, hereinafter called the Prin- 195", cipal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted in the Eleventh Year of the
Republic of India as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Taxation (on Goods Carried by Roads or Inlan_d Water- Ways) (Amendment) Act, 1960.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the Principal Act.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the 1st April, 1960.
2. In Section 2 of the Principal Act-
(1) for item (7) .the following shall be substituted, namely:-:-
"(7) 'Kilogram' means 'Kilogram' as defined in Act 89 of the Standards of Weights and Measures Act, 1956•

(3) in clause (b) of item 15, for the words "five maunds" the fi gures and words "185 K ilo- grams'> shall be substituted .
3. In Section 3 o! the Principal Act- or the words " seven Naye Paise per pound" and
"fif[y Na ye Paise per maund " the fi gures and words "15 Naye Paise per Ki logram" and "1 ·4 Naye Paise per K ilogram " respectively shall be substituted.
