(AMENDMENT) ACE, 1976

fu rthe r to amend the Ass am Lan d Reven ue and Rent (Surcharge) Ac t, 1970.
Preamble. Wherea s it is exp edient fu rth er to amend the Assam Land Revenue and Ren t (Surcharge) Act, 1970, he re inaf ter called the principal Act,Assam Act

It is he reb y enacted in the Twent y-seve nth ye ar of the Republic of India as follows :—
Short title, l . (l) This Act ma y be called the Assam
extent and La n c j Revenue and Ren t (Surcha rge) (Amend- commence- . j. mne me nt> men t) Act, 1976-
(2) It sha ll hav e like ex ten t as the princi pal Act.
(3) It sha ll come into force at once.
Amendment 2. In section 2 of the prin cipal Act, aft er
of Section 2 clause (3), the following sha ll be inserted Act xT fas

"(5) 'Collector' means the Deputy Com- missioner and includes the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Subdivisional Officer and Sadar 'cub divisional Officer within whose jurisdiction the land in question is situated".
" (6; 'person' means an individual, a family including a jo int family, a partnersh ip, a Company, and a body corporate" .
