to provide for the safety o f Government interest against various loans and advance* issued by Government as security o f unencumbered landed properties.
Pre am bl e.—Whereas it is expe dient to make prov ision for the safety of Government inte rest aga inst various loans and adva nces including Hous ing Loan s issued by Government on securi ty of unencu mbered landed proper ties .
It is hereby enacted in the ^Eighth Yea r of the Republic of India as fol low s:—
I1. Short ti tl e, ex tent an d co m m en ce m en t.—(1) Th i tAct may be called the Assam Land and Rev enue Regulatio n (Am endment) Act , 1957.
(2) It extends to the whole of the S tate of Assam. I
(3) It shall come into force at once .
2. Def in it ions .—In this Act, unless the re is a nything rep ug nant in the subject or con text —
(1) “ Go ver nm ent ”—means Sta te Government o f Assam. 3. Am en dm en t o f Secti on 71 o f Re gu latio n I o f Ifi86.—Inser t the
following proviso afte r the thi rd proviso to Section 7I of the Assam Land an d Revenue Regulati on, 1886, na mely:—
“ Fourthl y, noth ing in this sect ion shall app ly to enc umbrance s crea ted in favour of Governme nt in any Es ta te .”
