Republic of India as follows —

1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Adhiars Protection and Regulation (Amendment) Act, 1959.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the Prin- cipal Act.

" (3) The State Government may, by notifica- tion in the official Gazette, dissolve, at any time, an Adhi Conciliation Board established under sub section
(I) or terminate the office of the member and appoint a new member in the vacancy caused, if so consider- ed expedient."

Ad-interim " 4A. Subiect to any action taken by the. Adhi relief against Conciliation Board under Section 4 and notwithstand- eviction of jn g anything contained in clause (c) of Section 6A, the Adhiars. Chairman of the Adhi Conciiiat'on Board shall, on a preliminary enquiry made in this behalf, have power to pass an interim order restoring the possession of the land to the Adhiar and shall put him in possession thereof within a period not exceeding three weeks in the manner as prescribed if it appears to him that the Adhiar cultivating any land during the preceding agricultural year is prevented by a land-lord or any person claiming superior interest from cultivating such land in the subsequent year."

" 11A. No legal practitioner or a pleader's clerk shall appear, plead or act on behalf of any party in any pioceeding or matter before the Chairman or the Adhi Conciliation Board."
