Preamble An

Act *

to amend the Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969.

Whereas it is expedient to ' amend the Gauhati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969 here-Assam Act

inafter' called the principal Act, in the manner 1 *f 1973. hereinafter appearing ;

It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India, as follows:—■

Short tide, extent and j commence- ment.

1 . (1 ) This Act may be called the Gauhati Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 1976. (2) It shall have like extent as the princi- pal Act. i ft • (3)' It shall be deemed to have come into • force on 23rd August, 1976. Amendment of Section 425 of Assam Act 1 of 1973. 2. In the principal Act, in Section 425, in sub-section (1) - (1) the full stop appearing after the existing provirb shall be substituted by a colon (:), and » (2) after the first proviso the shall be inserted as a second proviso, 1 following1 namely:- , " Provided further that at before the expiration of the period of sion or the extended period of as the case may be, the State Government may, from time to time, extend the period of super- session for such period as may be determined, no such time and exceeding extension exceeding the total period of a continuous period V; any time superses- supersession, one year at a supersession not of three years." n

Repeals and Sayings.

1 3. (1) The Gauhati Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, 1976 is hereby re- pealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal any order passed, notification, issued, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act. as amended by the Gauhati Municipal Corpora- tion (Amendment) Ordinance, 1976 shall be deemed to have 'been passed, issued, done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act as amended by this Act. ft
