THE ASSAM MUNICIPAL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1948

Act further to amend the Assam Municipal Act, 1923. Preamble.
Short title,
extent and
commence-
ment.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Municipal Act, 1923, hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing ;

of 1923. It is hereby enacted as follows:—
1. (I) This Act may be called the Assam Municipal (Amendment) Act, 1948.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act.
(3) It shall come into force at once,

(it) for sub-section (2) the following shall be substi-
tuted, namely :—
" (2) The Provincial Government may refuse to give such permission—
(a) if they are of opinion that the establishment of such factory or workshop in the proposed site (i) would be objectionable by reason of the density of the population in the neigh- bourhood thereof, or (z'z) would be a nuisance to the inhabitants of the neighbourhood, or
(b) for any other sufficient reason" , and
(iii) in the marginal heading, for the word " Board "
the words " Provincial Government " shall be substituted.
