An Act to amend the Assam (Temporarily Settled Districts') Tenancy Act, 1935
Whereas it is expedie nt to amend the Assam Ass am -A ct , (Temporar ily Settled Districts) Ten ancy Act , III o f 1935. 1935, in the manner here inaf ter app ear ing ; And whereas the Governor of Assam, has
assumed to himself under the Proclam ation date d the 25th December 1941 issued by him under 26 Geo . 5, section 93 of the" Governmen t of India Act, Ch. 2. 1935, all powers vested by or und er the said Act in the Prov incia l Legislatu re ;
Now, therefore, in exercise o f the said powers, the Governor of Assam is pleased to make the following A ct :—
1. (1) Th is Act may be called the Assam (Temporar ily Sett led Districts ) Tenancy (Amend- men t) Act, 1942.
(2) It shall come into force at once .
(3) It shall have the like e xten t as the Assam Assam (.Temporari ly Sett led Districts) Ten ancy Act,11°93
' 1935, hereinafter referred to as t he said Act.
2. In the heading of Chapte r IX of the said Act, for the words " PR IVILEG ED .Tf ajW s AND OC CU PANC Y Raiyats" the word
" TE NA NT S" shall be substitu ted. Amendmen t

3. In sub-section (1) of section 79 of the said Act for the words " privi leged raiyats and occu - pancy raiyats" the words " all or any class or classes o f te nants" shall be substituted. Amendmen t

5. In sub-sections (1) and (3) of section 84 of the said Act, for the words " privileged raiyats and occupanc y raiyats" the words " and tena nts"
shall be sub sti tuted .

6. In section 85 o f the said Act for the words
" privileged raiyats and occupancy raiyats" the words " tenants o f any class or classes" shall be subs tituted. Amendment

7. In section 107 of the said Act—
(t) for the words " privileged raiyats or occupancy raiyats" in sub section (1) the words " all or any class or classes of t enants" shall be sub stituted ; («) for the w ord "raiyats" in sub-sections (1) and (3) the word " ten an ts" shall be substitu ted ;
