Whereas i t is expedien t furt he r to a mend the Assam - State Legis lature Members (R.emoval of Disqualifi- x in & ®f cations) Act, 1950, hereinafte r called the princi pal 1950. Act, in the ma nner here inafter app ear ing ;
It is hereby enacted in t he Twenty- first Year of the Repub lic of Ind ia as follows:—
Preamble.
Short tit le , 1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Sta te ex ten t an d Legislature Members (Removal of Disquali ficat ions) mSTen Ce' (Am endment) Act, 1970.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the principa l Act.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on 24th Ma rch , 1970.
Am end - 2. In section 2 of the princi pal Act,— in ert of sect ion 2 of (1) aft er the word “ hereto” occurring at the Assam Ac t end, the punc tua tion “ ( . )” shall be deleted
°’ and the words “in so far as it is an office of prof it under the S tat e Governme nt” followed by the punctuat ion “ ( . )” shall be add ed ;
(2) in the Schedule, afte r item numb er 6, the fo ! lowing shall be inser ted ai item num ber 6A, na mely:—
“ 6 A. Any office held by a Min iste r, Minister of Sta te, Deputy Min iste r or Par liamenta ry Secreta ry for t he State of Assam”
