Preamble. Whereas it is expedien t to amend the Assam Assam Act Weights and Measures (Enforcemen t) Act, 1958 here- XIX of inafter called the Principal Act, in the ma nner here in afte r ap pe ar in g:
It is he reby enac ted in the Eleventh Y ear of the Rep ubl ic of India as follows :—
Short title, 1. (i ) This Act may be called the Assam Weights com menTc' an <^ Measures (Enfo rcement) (Amendm ent) Act, I960, ment.
(2) I t shall have the like extent as the Prin cipal Act.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
Substitution 2 . For section 12 of the Principa l Act, the follow- ol section 12 jn g s hall be subst itu ted , nam ely :— c f Assam Act X IX of 1959.
12. Th e Sta te Governm ent may, bv notification and subjec t t o such conditions and restr ictio ns as it may think fit to impose, exem pt anv class of persons, any commodi ty, tra de , any class of trades or weights or measures or weighing or measuring instruments used or inte nde d to be used for anv purpose other tha n the tra de specified in the notification from all or ‘ any o f the provisions o f this Act” . ,
