An Act to provzde for the further extensiorz of the term of offzce of the councillors oj the Chalakudy ar.d Malappuram Mumcipalities

Preamble.-WH E.R EAS it is considered nece~sary to prov1de for the further extension of the term of office of the councillors of the Chalakudy and Malappu1am Municipalities;

BE it enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Repubhc of India a1 follows:-

!. Short tttle and commencement.-(!) This Act may be called the Chala- kudy and Malappuram Municipal Councils (Extension of Term of Office of Councillors) Act, 1976.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 30th day of November, 1976.

2. Exten~ton of term o( office of muntctpat counczllors -Notwithstanding a'"ly- thing contained in the Kerala Municipalities Act, 1960 ( 14 of 1961), the term of office of the co mcH!ors of the Chalakudy a;:d Malappuram Mu lici- palities constituted unr'er the said Act, wh1ch expires on the 30th d y of November, 1976, shall extend up to the 1st day of November, 1977.

3. Repeal and saving.-(1) The Cha1akudy and Malap'1uram Municipal Councils (Extension ofTerm of Office ofCouncil101s) Ordin1nce, 1976 (13 of 1976), is hereby repealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to rave been done or taken under this Act.
