An Act to amend the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1997
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Fiftieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Section 1. Short title and commencement
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Amendment Act, 1999.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
Section 2. Amendment of section 4
2. Amendment of section 4.- In section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1997 (Tamil Nadu Act 44 of 1997) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in sub-section (3), for the expression "fifteen days", the expression "thirty days" shall be substituted.
Section 3. Amendment off section 12
3. Amendment off section 12.- In section 12 of the principal Act, for the expression "appoint an Advocate of not less than ten years standing as a Special Public Prosecutor", the expression "appoint one or more Advocates of not less than ten years standing as Special Public Prosecutors" shall be substituted.
