Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2000*

An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994

Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

* Received the assent of the Governor on the 31st March, 2000 and published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary.

Section 1. Short title and commencement

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2000.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

Section 2. Amendment of section 261

2. Amendment of section 261.- In section 261 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994), in sub-section (2), for the expression "31st day of March, 2000", the expression "24th day of October, 2001" shall be substituted.
