Tamil Nadu Entertainments Tax and Local Authorities Finance (Amendment) Act, 1970*

An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Entertainments Tax Act, 1939 and the Tamil Nadu Local Authorities Finance Act, 1961.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Twenty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

Section 1. Short title, extent and commencement

1. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Entertainments Tax and Local Authorities Finance (Amendment) Act, 1970.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st April, 1970.

1 The amendment made by this section has already been incorporated in the principal Act, viz., the Tamil Nadu Local Authorities Finance Act, 1961 (Tamil Nadu Act 52 of 1961).

Section 4. Saving

4. Saving.- Notwithstanding anything contained in section 3, any resolution of a local authority determining the levy of tax under clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the said Apt and in force immediately before the date of the commencement of this Act shall continue in force after such date, until a fresh resolution determining the levy of tax under, clause (b) of sub-section (1) of sub-section 3 of the said Act as amended by this Act has taken effect.
